Statement

The first few images display my life drawing work, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I particularly like observational work considering space and composition. The spatial awareness exercises were very enjoyable for me. Experimenting with different Medias allowed me to improve my presentational skills. I have also included an observational study of our ‘wraps’ exploration where we used our studio space to laterally attack the task of ‘wrapping’ objects. I particularly enjoyed creating my installation from a memory. I found using an experience and making people feel the same way I felt, was extremely rewarding and is something I would like to use within my work. Printmaking was something I had never done before, but learning the skills was very pleasurable and I was very happy with my t-shirt outcome; especially being able to market it and having a concept behind it. Graphics has always been an interest of mine, so when creating a box, I enjoyed testing my ideas and thinking about the end product; how it would look as a 3D object. In applied art, I was really able to experiment with materials and processes whilst thinking about the theme. I particularly enjoyed using tracing paper and dye, as tracing paper can be a good mould which creates the texture I was looking for. The 3D self-model made from only glue-gun sticks and wire for joints, was my favourite piece of work, as I enjoyed the challenge of limiting myself to 2 materials. It had to be able to sit down, so I also made a chair out of glue, paper and wire. The matchstick maquettes are more recent pieces where we had to personally visualise and create a representation of our group-discussed ideas for a music album photoshoot. These images are all pieces that I have thoroughly enjoyed creating and are areas of 3D design that have impacted upon my work. I would essentially like to become a furniture designer and am fascinated by the connection between people and environments and how an environment can emotionally affect us. I would particularly like to explore different environments to inform my work, so having the opportunity to study abroad would be very beneficial to me, as travelling and culture is something I am also very interested in.
